Class Guidelines

Students are required to take and pass 3 math courses in high school. In general, Algebra 2 is the 3rd math course that students take, however this is not always the case.

All of of homework and notes are online. The units we will cover are under the Algebra 2 link. Use a 3 ring binder for notes and homework.

Notes and homework will be on the website as well.

Class materials:

  • 3 ring binder
  • Loose leaf paper
  • Graphing Calculator (more on this below)

These are the calculators from Texas Instruments that may be used on the SAT (our state test.)

If you own a TI calculator, you’ll be OK if you have one of the following:
  • TI-30 (including multiview)
  • TI-34.
  • TI-82.
  • TI-83.*
  • TI-84 (including the new color models)*
  • TI-89 (including Titanium)
  • TI-Nspire (all models)
  • TI-Nspire CAS (all models)

*These are the models I recommend. They may also be used on the ACT. The TI-89 has a big learning curve. New calculators are about $100 but they can be found used on Amazon and at Disc Replay (sometimes) in Champaign.

Also, if students have a friend with a graphing calculator, they often share with each other.

Grading

  • Grading is based on the percent of total points earned out of total points possible during the quarter
  • When an assignment is given it is due the following day, except in rare cases.
  • Assignments that are not completed will receive an excused. BUT, you are still accountable for the material.
  • If you have an excused absence you will have a day for each day missed to make up an assignment.
  • Occasionally we will have quiz and test re-takes. The higher grade will be recorded if you choose to take it.
  • The majority of our grades are Quizzes and Test.

Behavior

  • We will follow all rules as stated in the student handbook.
